Why I Am Running
Approval ratings of Congress are at all time lows. Polls show that government itself is the biggest problem facing America today. The justice system is broken. Government is not operating according to the founding principle of the Consent of the Governed. It is running according to the will of the one percent – those who can pay for access.
As a lawyer, I have represented whistleblowers, police officers, public servants, women, minorities, and other common people in all walks of life. I have worked with people struggling to save their homes in the face of the national mortgage foreclosure crisis, and those struggling to save their families through the domestic relations courts. My life has been devoted to defending the constitutional rights of hard working American citizens. I have seen and felt the pain and frustration of people who have been disenfranchised by our government.
I want to carry on this service to you as a member of Congress to work to eliminate the suffering I have seen and experienced on a daily basis. I want to help restore true liberty and justice to this great country of ours.
What I Believe
I believe in the moral virtue of free enterprise and hard work. I believe in the rights of labor as our most valuable form of capital. I believe in the middle class values of raising families in viable, supportive communities. I believe we have obligations to the poor and disenfranchised.
I believe in the equal treatment and equal protection of all. I believe in the founding principle of limited government, but also believe that a government we can trust can serve many useful purposes in service of the “general welfare.”
I believe that corporatism, cronyism, Wall Street influence, lawyers, and courts are the root causes of our political ills. People have no faith anymore in the integrity of our government institutions, and that they work for us, and that trust needs to be restored. That will be the focus of my campaign, and it will be the core of my service to you.
We Must Work Together
Our political struggle is not a Democrat problem or a Republican problem; neither a liberal problem, nor a conservative problem. It is an American problem — our system is broken. There are institutional problems must be corrected. We must work together according to our founding principles to correct these problems.
“We the people” need to take back the power, and restore the true meaning of “the consent of the governed.”
As your Congressman, I will stand and fight for all of you, regardless of party, race, orientation, or creed. I will fight for our basic rights to live in a free and open society. I will confront the monied influences that are eroding the middle class, and compromising our basic values. I will work every day to secure the blessings of liberty that our founders have fought for, and our soldiers have bled and died for. I will work with integrity and with honesty. I will be beholden to no one, but my constituents. I will fight to make us all truly proud when we salute our flag, and utter the words God Bless America.
